For the 2011, series 'She carries it all like a map on her skin' was informed by ideas of the relations between the skin and the self.

Each of the 35 photographs are re-photographed to restore that surface in the sheen of the final Type C print. In these large-scale photographs the skin is depicted as an ever-changing topography.

These new works with photography explore the themes of transience, temporality and the corporeal and subjective limits of the human body.

The skin is a surface that may reveal our inner selves by retaining the traces of memory on its surface or alternatively it may conceal or even mask our identity. These works emanate from my experiences and emotions which always begin with the gender, biography and role of the self; transporting such complex themes as fear, escape, orientation and the search for freedom.
